Chemical water treatment for your Lay-Z-Spa is essential regardless of how long or how often you plan to use the hot tub for.
The kit includes 500g Chlorine Granules for disinfecting pools amp; spas, 500g PH Plus for increasing PH of pool amp; spa water, 700g PH Minus for decreasing PH of pool amp; spa water, 500ml Foam Remover to control amp; prevent foaming and 25 test strips to test for total alkalinity, chlorine and PH.
Why do I need Chlorine for my Lay-Z-Spa
Chlorine granules disinfect the spa water by killing bacteria which builds up in your Lay-Z-Spa; they are quick dissolving and relatively pH neutral. Chlorine treatment is essential when using a Lay-Z-Spa hot tub, regardless of how long you plan to use the water in your spa for.
How do I test the level of Chlorine in my Lay-Z-Spa
You can use the Clearwater test strips provided in this starter kit to test the chlorine and pH levels in your hot tub. Alternatively you can buy the Clearwater Dip Tests separately from the kit or if you prefer a non-disposable alternative, a Bestway Aquatester. You should test the water before every use, to check that the chemical levels are correct and safe and also that the pH is between 7.6 and 7.2.
How should I add Chlorine to my Lay-Z-Spa
If you need to increase the amount of chlorine in your hot tub, then this can be achieved by sprinkling the chlorine granules directly in to your spa water (if your water temperature is over 20176;C) or alternatively by pre-diluting in a container of warm water (this method should always be used if your applying to a hot tub with a water temperature of under 20176;C). Try adding chlorine a little at a time to prevent over chlorination.
What if my Lay-Z-Spa becomes over-chlorinated
If you hot tub becomes over chlorinated then you should wait for the chlorine level to naturally drop (this will happen on its own over a period of days) and re-test before using.
Why amp; how should I manage pH levels of the spa water
For Chlorine Granules to work effectively and efficiently, the pH levels in your hot tub must be kept at the optimum level. The optimum pH level for your hot tub is between 7.6 and 7.2. If the pH of your spa water is above 7.6 then you can use the Clearwater pH Minus provided in this starter kit to reduce it, using the application instructions on the bottle. If the pH of your spa water is below 7.2 then you can use the Clearwater pH Plus provided in the starter kit to increase it, using the application instructions on the bottle.
What is Foam Remover and why do I need it
Foam remover helps to control and prevent foaming in your Lay-Z-Spa hot tub which can ruin the crystal clarity of your water and lead to the formation of quot;soapsquot;. It is specially formulated to combat foaming which is generally caused by shampoo and deodorants used by hot tub users as well as a persons natural body oils. Showering before entering the hot tub can sometimes help to alleviate foaming caused by oils, deodorants and shampoo, however foaming can also be a normal symptom of chemicals that are used to treat and keep your water healthy, therefore it is sometimes unavoidable.
